Chiropractic and Sleep

Who knows someone who struggles with getting a good night’s sleep? We are seeing positive results with chiropractic care and improving the quality of sleep! Poor sleep can be from a number of things, but most of the time, it is due to back pain that keeps us from sleeping. Some people who suffer from headaches or chronic pain can also experience sleepless nights. Both headaches and chronic pain can be linked to spinal health. We need sleep so that our bodies can function. Sleep allows us to heal and repair. Your immune system relies on sleep to stay healthy. Ongoing sleep deficiency can alter the way in which your immune system responds which may affect your body’s ability to fight common infections. Those who do not get proper sleep are more susceptible to sickness, loss of energy/fatigue, inability to concentrate which includes having trouble with decision making and solving problems, and controlling emotions and behavior.

Sleepless nights are becoming common to the general population. Approximately 60 million people are affected by insomnia. Sleep is very detrimental to building a healthy body and the growth and development of children. Continuous lack of sleep can directly show negative affects on children especially those children who suffer from behavioral issues like ADD, hyperactivity, or stunted brain growth. In adults, lack of sleep can lead to poor concentration and affect their job performance, affect mood, and constantly feel fatigued. Because multiple factors affect the quality of sleep, such as sleep apnea, high levels of stress, anxiety, worry or depression, it is important to get to the root cause of the problem.

One of the first things that people turn to when having sleep issues is medication. Medication is usually a short-term fix and sleep problems, more often than not, return after stopping the use of the medication. The use of medications can also lead to harmful side effects. Thankfully, there are other natural options such as chiropractic care. We focus on neurologically based chiropractic care to help get to the root cause of the problem with sleep difficulties. Spinal misalignments can cause nerve interference that can cause chaos within the body. Gentle and specific chiropractic adjustments can remove those misalignments, restoring function, so the body can get the rest it needs.

If you or someone you know suffers from sleepless nights, call us today to get scheduled and know you can rest easy with chiropractic care.
