Surface Electromyography

One of the most exciting technologies in our chiropractic practice, surface electromyography (sEMG) measures baseline status and changes in the electrical activity of the muscles that support your spine. These paraspinal muscles are controlled by the motor part of the nervous system.

This scan allows your chiropractor to identify areas and patterns of abnormal stress in the motor nerves that may create tension, poor posture, and misalignment in the musculoskeletal system. Areas of muscular imbalance are measured and mapped so that changes can be monitored over time.

The Insight sEMG technology is similar to the technology used in EKG heart rate measurement machines. One primary difference is that the Insight sensors are 1,000 times more sensitive since the paraspinal muscles generate less electrical activity than the heart muscle. The sensitivity and accuracy of the Insight technology is unsurpassed!

By precisely measuring muscle activity, your progress can be followed as your care progresses making the sEMG a powerful tool for tracking results from chiropractic care.
