Time and Repetition with Chiropractic

We hear all the time that people want that “quick fix,” but healing takes time. Here at Restoration Chiropractic, we want to help you heal, not just be that natural aspirin. If you think of all the things you love to do in life, most of them require time and repetition to get that skill down. For example, learning how to ride a bike takes time and repetition. Most kids don’t jump on their bike and ride for miles their first time, right? This concept is applicable to all areas of your life, including chiropractic care. The body needs time and repetition to create good spinal health and for your central nervous system to function optimally. A visit here and there can improve spinal health, but continual chiropractic care can lead to amazing health benefits.

We tend to be creatures of habit, our bodies our accustomed to what they are used to do. Most of America is paid to sit at a desk all day. Experts estimate that up to 80% of the population will experience back pain at some time in their lives. Back pain can affect people of all ages, from adolescents to the elderly. Research has shown it to be one if not the most effective treatment for low back pain. Spinal adjustments are proven to decrease the need of medication, reduce pain, and speed the effect of physical therapy. Recent studies of a clinical trial published in JAMA Network Open, showed that chiropractic care combined with usual medical care for low back pain provides greater pain relief and a greater reduction in disability than medical care alone. The study, which featured 750 active-duty members of the military, is one of the largest comparative effectiveness trials between usual medical care and chiropractic care ever conducted.

We have a tendency to get into habits and forget to focus on proper body positions. If your spine is used to being in a certain position, it will stay in that position until it is forced to do otherwise. With time and repetition, we can retrain the spine to stay in proper alignment and create new and healthier connections between the brain and the rest of the body through the spinal cord. Spinal misalignments can cause chaos on the function of the nervous system. One adjustment may help for a bit, but over time, the spine will move out of alignment because that it what it is used to. Until that problem is corrected from the source (which takes time) you may continue to have those stubborn aches, pains and dysfunction. But with each adjustment, we are working towards creating proper spinal alignment. Over time, we see the body start stabilizing, the muscles around the spine start balancing, and proper function happening.

Many people have experienced great results with chiropractic care. Call today to set up your first appointment and see long-lasting results from improved spinal health when you embrace the time and repetition to reap the benefits of regular chiropractic care at Restoration Chiropractic.
