PCOS and Chiropractic Care

Normally when we think of a chiropractor, we think about neck pain and back pain. But chiropractic care can help manage PCOS symptoms. If you have PCOS(polycystic ovary syndrome), you know how complicated and complex disorder it can be. Approximately 1 out of every 10 women are affected by PCOS which causes hormonal imbalances that affect overall health and wellness of women. There are many factors that contribute to PCOS like genetic traits, high levels of insulin, or high levels of androgen (male hormones). Some health conditions that have been associated with PCOS include anxiety, sleep apnea, low blood pressure, and depression. There are other ways to manage PCOS like eating right, exercising and getting nutrients and vitamins that the body needs, but it may not completely alleviate the symptoms. Chiropractic care can get to the root cause of PCOS and be a key component in healing and relief of the symptoms of PCOS.

If we have misalignments in our spine, it can lead to nerve interference, interfering with the communication throughout the body and further contributing to PCOS symptoms. A case study of a 30-year-old woman presented with PCOS, ulcerative colitis (UC), neck pain, and infertility issues. After 14 visits of chiropractic care, she found relief from her UC, she resumed regular menstruation after 8 years of irregular cycles and even became pregnant!
